Horror evening...

Last Thursday, I got home about 10pm after Homegroup...

Tim was waiting for me and told me that his chickens had been attacked...

Out of 28 chickens and roosters we had 9 left... 9 we found in the paddocks... Both Charlie and the other RIR rooster amongst them. 10 are missing presumed dead.

Whatever it was, it went straight for the throat so they couldn't make a noise to alert anyone. It was raining so heavily and we had heaps of lightening and thunder. Tim finally heard a little commotion but by then it was way too late. Some say it was local dogs, others say quolls...

I reckon it was quolls as it looked like their blood had been taken through the puncture wounds. I don't know, all I do know is that it was horrible having to go and pick them up and put them in bags and into the rubbish bin.

Bruce and his girls were fine as they were on the top shelf on the house. Everyone that we got as chicks this time last year, only one survived... An Australorp...

It is so quiet here now... Just wrong. So glad it hasn't happened in a long time... Hope it doesn't happen again...

Tim is still distraught but has also leaned valuable lessons...

Blessings,
