Last week I got a cheque in the mail. I had been expecting it but not for $1000. Only for $700. You see we had to pay a deposit of $1000 originally back in June 2009 for our solar panels to be installed. The amount would be held in trust and then the balance returned 60 days after installation. We got ours on 20 January 2010.
We are in a rural setting though. We are further than 75km from the Brisbane CBD which meant that we had to pay for a $300 travel fee.
So back to the cheque. I got it and was rather surprised that it was for the full amount that we originally gave them and no travel fee had been taken off at all. I called the company and the young lady I spoke to asked me to wait while she spoke to her Manager...
She comes back on the phone and says to me that in this case I am entitled to the whole amount back and thanked me for being honest either way... What the??? I asked again, are you sure... We are further than 75km from the CBD. Yes, I was assured. It was our money.
Well there you go... Never in a million years did I suspect that that would happen. :) That extra money paid for the holiday outings that we had during the week before. How grateful I am...
