New Additions...

Our 7 new Pit Game Hens...

Meet Flake...

Last weekend we were blessed with another rooster. His name was Ralph Jr and is a relation to Bruce. Timothy has claimed him and renamed him Flake as he has lots of flaky bits on the end of his feathers, especially the ones around his neck. He is soooo pretty. He came from Lisa and Russell's... They have moved to Brisbane and only wanted one rooster with their five girls. No need for two there... I needed another one as I have 17 girls and Bruce... well let's just say he is not doing his job... He gives up too easily. Not now though, as soon as he caught sight of Flake ever since he has been off doing this thing. Funny to watch how he is chasing the girls again.

Then on Tuesday I was again blessed with chooks but this time seven purebred Pit Game hens. They are not good enough for showing but are sure good enough to lay eggs for me. :) Some are pullets, some 1yr olds and some about 3yrs old. They lay till about 8yrs of age apparently. Have never heard of them but after talking to Michael about them realised that they would fit in just fine. They don't have the cross in them to make them pit fighters, Thank you Lord.

So at the moment both lots are in separate cages so that they get used to their new surroundings. Flake will come out this weekend and am keeping the hens in their cage for an extra week as they are flighty to begin with and want them to really settle.

Meanwhile, Timothy has totally fallen in love with the smallest of the pit game. She off course is the one that is the flightiest and always wanting to run... She has her wing clipped already, the others will be done when they come out of the cage...

So all in all we are up on numbers again. The duck is still on her own and will get another couple of buddies as soon as the Pig n Calf produce something that I can actually buy. They are going for too high a price at the moment or they are not great quality. If you know of someone wanting to get rid of a couple let me know. :)

Cheers Damaris
